who we serve

General Hospitals / Acute Care Hospitals

A general hospital is designed to deal with many kinds of diseases and injuries, and typically has an emergency room to care for patients in need of immediate treatment. A general hospital typically has a number of beds for intensive care and long-term care, with specialized facilities for surgery, childbirth, laboratories and other areas.

General hospitals usually conduct operations in virtually every field of modern medicine. The majority of hospitals in Puerto Rico are general hospitals that deal with the full range of medical conditions. A general hospital, however, may not be able to offer the latest specialized treatments for every disorder, such as neurosurgery and cardiac surgery. In addition, trauma facilities may not be available in general hospitals.
